Unit One: Counting and Probability (26 Hours)

In this introductory unit, students will delve into the basic vocabulary and notation of probability, focusing on scenarios involving elementary counting. The curriculum includes an in-depth exploration of permutations and combinations, teaching students to precisely express these concepts using mathematical notation. Practical skills in solving diverse counting problems and addressing probability challenges will be developed through the application of fundamental counting principles.

Unit Two: Probability Distributions Introduction (26 Hours)

This unit guides students in understanding probability distributions associated with discrete random variables. They'll explore and draw connections between Binomial and Hypergeometric distributions. Additionally, students will learn to recognize how variability leads to differences between a probability histogram and a frequency histogram.

Unit Three: Introduction to Organization of Data Analysis (26 Hours)

In this unit, students will focus on how to effectively organize data for analysis, gaining an in-depth understanding of data's pivotal role in statistical studies. They will learn to identify the characteristics of a reliable sample and evaluate different sampling methods. The curriculum includes instruction on creating efficient surveys and the methodologies of data collection. Students will also explore data structuring, recognize various data sources, refine their research topics, and formulate plans for their upcoming Culminating Investigation.

Unit Four : Statistical Analysis (26 Hours)

This unit immerses students in the exploration, analysis, interpretation, and conclusion-drawing processes from data sets involving both one and two variables. It encourages a deep dive into the examination and assessment of the accuracy of statistical summaries. The module reaches its peak with an extensive investigation, where students will analyze data, interpret results, conclude their findings, and create a detailed report. Additionally, they will summarize and present their findings, as well as engage in constructive critiques of their peers' presentations.

Rich Summative Task (4 hours)

RST: This task is a focused, four-hour culminating investigation, serving as a comprehensive summative assessment.
