In this course, students are introduced to essential accounting principles and practices. They will develop skills in financial analysis and decision-making, which are essential for further academic pursuits or careers in business. The curriculum covers accounting processes for both service-oriented and merchandising businesses, introduces computerized accounting systems, focuses on financial analysis techniques, and discusses ethical considerations and contemporary issues in accounting.

Program

Unit One: Fundamental Accounting Principles(30 hours)

In this module, students will explore the variety of accounting practices and their influence on individuals and companies. They will investigate the three main professional accounting certifications, shedding light on the specific focus of each. The course also includes an in-depth study of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), which are the standard guidelines in the accounting profession. Furthermore, students will analyze the three predominant forms of business entities: sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.

Unit Two: Advance Accounting Practices(20 hours)

The objective of this module is to provide students with a comprehensive grasp of the accounting cycle specific to retail businesses. The focus will be on mastering accounting methods associated with sales tax. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to implement these accounting techniques in a computerized setting, thereby acquiring hands-on experience in incorporating technology into fiscal procedures.

Unit Three: Internal Control, Financial Analysis, and Decision Making Students will demonst (25 hours)

This module is designed to enable students to display their understanding of internal control mechanisms in financial management, particularly in a business setting. It focuses on evaluating a company's financial status by analyzing key performance indicators and financial reports. Additionally, students will explore the critical role of accounting information in decision-making, highlighting its importance in fostering informed business choices.

Unit Four: Ethics, Impact of Technology, and Careers (25 hours)

In this unit, students will demonstrate their understanding of internal control procedures in financial management within a business setting. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on evaluating a company's financial position by examining performance metrics and financial statements. Additionally, students will elucidate the pivotal role of accounting data in the decision-making process, highlighting its importance in guiding well-informed business choices.

Exam/RST(8 hours)

The Rich Task Summative, constituting 20% of the overall grade, represents a key final evaluation in the course. It integrates a range of concepts and skills developed throughout the course, aiming to measure a student's adeptness in demonstrating their understanding. This evaluation goes beyond just the end product; it also involves assessing the student's comprehension through interactive discussions and observations. The goal is to provide a holistic assessment of the student's ability to meet and exceed the course expectations.

Final Exam 10% (2 hours)

The Final Exam, conducted under supervision, contributes 10% to your final grade.
